Mobile Printing

  • How to print from a laptop, desktop, or phone
    • Send pdfs, Word documents, or other common file types by email to askus@atchisonlibrary.org. 
    • We will print the documents when you arrive in the library.

  • How to print from in the library
    • ​Use your library card or a guest pass (which you can get from the circulation desk) to log on to our computers. When you go to print, it should prompt you through a few pop ups, telling you how much it will cost. Once you click through these windows, go to the circulation desk and ask them to clear your prints. 
Pricing: 0.10 cents for black and white, 0.50 cents for color.

Curbside Pick Up

Curbside is available during all open hours.
1. Place Holds- Go to https://nextkansas.org/ and log in in the top right corner with your library card number and four digit passcode. Search the movies, audiobooks, and books and place holds on the items you want.
2. Notification- We will call/ text/ email you when your holds are available and ready for you to pick up from APL. 
3. Pick Up- Park in the library parking lot and give us a call. A librarian will bring out your items with them already checked out.

If you would prefer, give us a call at 913-367-1902 and we will assist you in putting specific items on hold. ​

Applying for a Library Card

Any resident of northeastern Kansas may apply for a library card and borrow from the library free of charge.  There is no fee for the initial card, but replacement cards are $1 each.

To apply for a card:

1) You must bring in a photo ID when applying in person or picking up your physical card.
2) Fill out short application

Children may get their own library card. If the child is under 18, a parent or  legal guardian whose own card is in good standing must be attached to the account as a guarantor. 

Borrowing Materials

You must have a library card or Photo ID to borrow materials

Present your library card, or photo ID, at time of check out. You may also use your card to log onto our public access computers. 

Materials may be renewed over the phone or online if no other patrons are waiting for them.

Patrons with overdue materials or outstanding service charges may be denied checkout privileges.

Lending Periods & Limits

Books and Audiobooks = 3 weeks (21 days)
May check out as many items as you wish to be responsible for

DVDs = 1 week (7 days)
8 DVDs per card

Games, Puzzles, and Cake Pans = 3 weeks (21 days)

Public Access Computers
60 minutes per day. 

Overdue Materials & Charges

We no longer charge late fees on library materials. However, if materials are not returned after 35 days, the item will be marked lost and charged to your account. If an account balance exceeds $10, borrowing privileges will be restricted, including our online resources.

Online Catalog and ILL

APL is a participant of the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS). Through NEKLS there is a shared catalog. Our patrons have access to materials from all participating libraries. You may place holds, renew items, make purchase suggestions and more through the online NEXT Catalog. 

Holds
Holds are items borrowed from our catalog and may be from APL or another regional library.

Inter-Library Loan
ILL items are borrowed from outside our catalog and may be from another Kansas library or from other states.
