Applying for a Library Card
Any resident of northeastern Kansas may apply for a library card and borrow from the library free of charge. There is no fee for the initial card, but replacement cards are $1 each.
To apply for a card:
Apply online on our website: just CLICK HERE.
1) You must bring in a photo ID and proof of current address when applying in person or picking up your physical card.
2) Fill out short application
Children aged 6 years and older or entering kindergarten may get their own library card. If the child is under 18, a parent or legal guardian whose own card is in good standing must sign the application as a guarantor.
You must have a library card or Photo ID to borrow materials
Present your library card, or photo ID, at time of check out. You may also use your card to log onto our public access computers.
Materials may be renewed over the phone or online if no other patrons are waiting for them.
Patrons with overdue materials or outstanding service charges may be denied checkout privileges.
Online Catalog and ILL
APL is a participant of the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS). Through NEKLS there is a shared catalog. Our patrons have access to materials from all participating libraries. You may place holds, renew items, make purchase suggestions and more through the online NEXT Catalog.
Holds are items borrowed from our catalog and may be from APL or another regional library.
ILL items are borrowed from outside our catalog and may be from another Kansas library or from other states.
More information about lending services is available on the Inter-Library Loan page.
