We need your help!
Your librarians want to bring you a great SRP this year, but need your feedback to inform our plans. Please take this short questionnaire and let us know what you want out of the Summer Reading Program!
This link will get you a PDF file of the takeout menus for all of Atchison's local restaurants. Many have extended hours and/or new curbside pickup or delivery options. Check out their Facebook pages or give them a call if you need more info!
Hey Lego Enthusiasts!
Since it doesn't look like we're going to be able to do a Lego Night this spring, let's make the best of the situation and do a Virtual Lego Month this April! All month long, send us pics of the cool Lego stuff you're building at home. You can send it to our Facebook page or email it to Mr. Patrick at email@example.com. Feel free to build whatever you like and send a caption if you want. However, if you would like a theme suggestion, we'll provide one each week. This week's suggestion is- spaceships. If it helps to imagine you're building a ship that will take you to a planet that has never heard of the coronavirus, go with it. Now get building!
While these may be strange and challenging times, it gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves in different ways and do something new. With that in mind, LET’S HAVE A COMPETITION!
We want to hear about all of the things that you are doing at home for yourselves, your family, and everyone around you. Below we have listed activities with a point system that you can earn while at home. We will keep a tally, but you must keep track as well (you’ll be disqualified if you don’t keep track). You don’t have to do these in order. Some of these activities are repeatable and are marked with a **, and you can do one of them per day. Email your completed challenges to firstname.lastname@example.org or message them to us on Facebook!
Please put your full name, phone number, age, and activity number with each submission.
If you record multiple activities in one submission, put the dates please!
The library will be closed temporarily for all services except online. We have decided to stop curbside delivery until we reopen. If you have anything on hold, you can call us and pick it up until 4pm on March 23rd. This is being done to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff.
Everything currently checked out has been renewed to May 18, and the drop box is locked closed. Please keep your items until we reopen- we do not charge late fees.
Staff will be working from home and be available by email. There is a list on our website of individual emails. You can also send a message to email@example.com . You can leave a message for us at 913-367-1902, but it might be a day or two before we answer.
Please check our website for lists of online resources for helping with schooling at home and family activities. Message us if you need help with using any of the sites or need more ideas!
Dear Friends and Patrons,
There will be no curbside pickup services tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18. Don't worry though, we're not abandoning you. Instead, our staff will be taking the day to celebrate the life of our late friend and co-worker, Betty Sue Thomas. Curbside pickup will return on Thursday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Are you feeling blue due to the lack of story time too?
Since Mr. Patrick can't read to you, the Online Resources page of our website is constantly being updated with live storytimes from celebrities, other libraries, aquariums, and more.
You'll also find links for all ages to activities, educational games, virtual tours, livestreaming concerts, and ways to get free books, movies, comics, and magazines.
Curbside Pickup is officially up and running!
A note to those placing holds online: Our courier service will be ceasing service soon and we will no longer receive items from other libraries. Any search you do on our catalog should be limited to our library. If you need to see how to limit your search, click on the Curbside Pickup button on our website.
Don't forget to pick up some board games or one of the new puzzles while you are at it! Nothing keeps you busy like a picture of the ocean broken into 1000 pieces!
And as always, feel free to message us on Facebook or call us at 913-367-1902 with any questions.
The Atchison Public Schools is offering pick up breakfast and lunch, so that children not attending school can still eat. Their current schedule is posted on their Facebook page here
The goal is to get the kids food without them gathering anywhere to eat. Pick up times are between 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at four different locations (including the Elementary school and Middle school parking lots).
