The Community Bookwalk will be along the River Walk this year, and there will be two of them! Submit the phrase on the signs along the walk for a chance to win a prize. You will find the submission form on the Bookwalk page, or submit it in person during our open hours. Have fun!
We need your help!
Your librarians want to bring you a great SRP this year, but need your feedback to inform our plans. Please take this short questionnaire and let us know what you want out of the Summer Reading Program! This link will get you a PDF file of the takeout menus for all of Atchison's local restaurants. Many have extended hours and/or new curbside pickup or delivery options. Check out their Facebook pages or give them a call if you need more info!
Hey Lego Enthusiasts!
Since it doesn't look like we're going to be able to do a Lego Night this spring, let's make the best of the situation and do a Virtual Lego Month this April! All month long, send us pics of the cool Lego stuff you're building at home. You can send it to our Facebook page or email it to Mr. Patrick at pglancy@atchisonlibrary.org. Feel free to build whatever you like and send a caption if you want. However, if you would like a theme suggestion, we'll provide one each week. This week's suggestion is- spaceships. If it helps to imagine you're building a ship that will take you to a planet that has never heard of the coronavirus, go with it. Now get building! While these may be strange and challenging times, it gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves in different ways and do something new. With that in mind, LET’S HAVE A COMPETITION!
We want to hear about all of the things that you are doing at home for yourselves, your family, and everyone around you. Below we have listed activities with a point system that you can earn while at home. We will keep a tally, but you must keep track as well (you’ll be disqualified if you don’t keep track). You don’t have to do these in order. Some of these activities are repeatable and are marked with a **, and you can do one of them per day. Email your completed challenges to kboyd@atchisonlibrary.org or message them to us on Facebook! Please put your full name, phone number, age, and activity number with each submission. If you record multiple activities in one submission, put the dates please!
Dear Friends,
The library will be closed temporarily for all services except online. We have decided to stop curbside delivery until we reopen. If you have anything on hold, you can call us and pick it up until 4pm on March 23rd. This is being done to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff. Everything currently checked out has been renewed to May 18, and the drop box is locked closed. Please keep your items until we reopen- we do not charge late fees. Staff will be working from home and be available by email. There is a list on our website of individual emails. You can also send a message to askus@atchisonlibrary.org . You can leave a message for us at 913-367-1902, but it might be a day or two before we answer. Please check our website for lists of online resources for helping with schooling at home and family activities. Message us if you need help with using any of the sites or need more ideas!
