Atchison Art Association Mosaic

10/23/2017

The Atchison Art Association will be creating a public art work at the library in 2018! A mosaic design of the community's choice will grace the south steps of the library. We hope that you will support the project by giving or voting for your favorite mosaic. To donate and/or vote please go to AtchisonArt.org

The tree because libraries are the tree of knowledge.

I agree! But the sun is so vibrant! It has to be used somewhere! Like Theatre Atchison :)

I think the colors in the sun are wonderful and look very artistic. I love this type of public art, it provides a wonderful backdrop for our progressive little community.

I want them both used! It makes me want to wander around town looking for steps that need a mosaic tile design! I wish City Hall's steps weren't broken up by a landing...

Tree ...it is not as loud (distracting from the building itself) as the Sun, yet it subtly adds beauty and represents/is symbolic of both roots/branches and knowledge . Perfect for the steps of a great public library available to its community.

Both of the designs are wonderful-it would be terrific to use each design somewhere within the library's confines. I am choosing the sun for these reasons-1.The sun is an awakening and vibrant opening into the library's opening doors. 2. The sun is clearly the focal point of the design, whereas the tree doesn't really stand out as the focal point. 3. The sun is definitely is opposite in its color to the background, while the tree doesn't use enough contrasting colors to make itself the focal point.

I do hope that both designs could be used, however!!!
