I decided to go out of my comfort zone again. This time I thought I'd try a Western. It's the Sixth Rider by Max McCoy. I chose it because he's a Kansas author (Emporia) and it starts out in Kansas. It's told by the youngest Dalton boy, Samuel Cole Dalton. It tells his life from the Kansas farm to the Dalton Gang member. His life changes when he goes with his brother Frank to pick up a fugitive. Then continues on with his setting out in the dead of winter to avenge his brother's death. Surviving blizzards, gunfights and becoming the Choctaw Kid and robbing trains are just a few of his adventures. Its a quick read, and I like the first person approach with Sam telling the story. I'd recommend this book, even for those who aren't that interested in Westerns. Look for it in the New Large Print section. Enjoy.
