Please hand wash the cake pan before and after use in warm soapy water, and thoroughly dry before replacing in the cake pan bag. A damaged item fee of $5 will be charged for cake pans returned dirty.
Cake pans can be checked out for two weeks. Please return cake pans inside the library to the circulation desk, and DO NOT place in the drop box. This can seriously damage the pans.
If the pan is Wilton, for baking and decorating tips search the 6-8 digit item number and “decorating guide” online. Ask a librarian if you need help to print out the guides or pictures.
For all cake pans, brush or spray an even layer of vegetable oil on the entire inside of the pan, then lightly cover with flour by placing some in the pan and shaking and tapping it around. After baking, allow the cake to cool completely before you remove it from the pan. This will help with clean removal. Follow baking temperatures and instructions for the cake mix you are using as closely as possible. If the pan is deeper than two inches you may need to bake at a lower temperature for a longer amount of time. Other tips and tricks for using shaped cake pans are plentiful online!
Email pictures of completed cakes to askus@atchisonlibary.org so we can share your creation online! By emailing the library your picture you consent to its use on library sites and social media.
