We had a great discussion today at Lunch and Learn. The two County Commission candidates, and one write-in candidate, debated their proposals for the future of the Economic Development Council. State Representative Jerry Henry pointed out that Kansas is facing some redistricting of state congressional districts based on the 2010 census. And, we had a very interesting discussion of how judges get appointed in Atchison and Leavenworth counties, and whether the current method of appointment is preferable to election of judges. Thanks to Rep. Jerry Henry, Sandie Dunbar, Jeff Schuele, John Bishop, District Court Judge Martin Asher, and Donna Gillett for participating in today’s discussion!
