Backyard Gardening
The Atchison County Community Connections/Atchison County Extension Office will present a program for the beginner gardener on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the large meeting room in the Library’s lower level. County Extension Agent Ray Ladd will share topics related to starting a garden and growing some of your own food. For more informatin call the Atchison Co. Extension Office at 913-833-5450. There is no cost to attend the program.

ATCHISON LIBRARY AUTHOR LUNCHEON
Award-winning Kansas author Nancy Pickard will be the featured guest speaker at the Third Author Luncheon co-sponsored by the Friends of the Atchison Library (FoAL) and the Atchison Library. Ms. Pickard’s novel, The Virgin of Small Plains was selected as the 2009 Kansas Reads novel. The luncheon will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 18th from noon to 2:00 p.m. Luncheon tickets are available at the library’s main circulation desk. You can purchase a copy of The Virgin of Small Plains at the library’s main circulation desk for $10.00. Ms. Pickard has graciously consented to sign your copy after the luncheon.

FAREWELL RECEPTION
Friends of Atchison Library (FoAL) will have a reception honoring P.J. Capps on Monday, March 30th from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the library, 401 Kansas Avenue, Atchison. P.J. is leaving the library after seven years of dedicated service. She and her husband, Steve, are moving to Arizona where he has taken a new job. Stop by and wish P.J. well. Everyone is invited.
