Amelia Weekend Library Events
The library will be host to a number of special events during the Amelia Earhart Festival, July 16th and 17th. Here is a line up of the activities:
Friday, July 16th – 2:oo p.m. – Ann Birney makes her annual appearance as “Amelia Earhart” during the Amelia Earhart Festival. If you haven’t experienced this enjoyable and entertaining show, this year is the time.
Saturday, July 17th – 9:00 a.m. – Breakfast With The Authors – This year features Carol Linn Dow, author of the novel The Lost Flight of Amelia Earhart, which explores many theories of her mysterious disappearance. Also featured is author Scott Seeds, who will discuss his book, Evidential Details, and the application of a new technique to the search for Amelia Earhart. He will include an update on the latest Tighar expedition. A free continental breakfast will be available to those attending.
Saturday, July 17th – 9:00 a.m. – Atchison County Kansas Genealogy Society presents it’s annual Meet The Authors as part of the Amelia Earhart Festival. This year’s guest author is Judith McCoy-Miller from Topeka. Her novels combine Kansas history with a little bit of romance and mystery. She has published several series including: The Broadmoor Legacy Series, the Postcards from Pullman Series and Freedom’s Path Series. Her books will be available for sale. Also featured will be Linda Funk who wrote Roads of Yesterday, a collection of stories about Kansas. A free continental breakfast will also be available.
Saturday, July 17th – 2:30 p.m. – Amelia Earhart Memorabilia Show — Theater Atchison presents author David Bowman talking about his collection of Amelia Earhart memorabilia. Featured will be a portion of his collection for public viewing.
