Outstanding Dedication
After 20 dedicated years, Margaret McConnell is passing her volunteer Library assignment on to someone else. Margaret offered her time every weekday morning to shelve books in the Children’s Library. She plans to spend more time reading, playing Bridge, doing Crossword puzzles and crocheting. Thank you, Margaret, for all your excellent work, sharing of memories and crocheted hangers. We’ll miss you.
Friends of the Atchison Library Author’s Luncheon
This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 23rd, at Trinity Episcopal church, 300 S. 5th, beginning at 12:00 noon. Featured on the program will be Topeka, KS author Thomas Fox Averill, editor of the book “What Kansas Means to Me.” “The book is a collection of essays, poetry, and prose by Kansans or those who wrote about Kansas from each decade of the twentieth century and is edited by Washburn professor Thomas Fox Averill. The book traces the attitudes of creative writers skilled at putting what many of the state’s residents feel into words. The essays and poems of this book are evidence that Kansas is neither backwoods nor irrelevant.” – 1
Cost of the luncheon is $8.00 for FoAL members and $10.00 for non-members. Tickets are available at the library. (If you join the Friends organization at the time you buy tickets, you will save $2.00 off the price.)
